SEPTEMBER

BLACK HOUSE by Stephen King & Peter Straub

I missed this.

KINGDOM OF CAGES by Sarah Zettel

And this.

THE SECRET OF LIFE by Paul McAuley (Alternate)

And this I found somewhat disappointing, although more accessible than his previous trilogy. Rather unexpectedly and quite unlike anything that has happened before in history, introducing a new species to an ecosystem (in this case martian life for the first and the ocean for the second) has undesirable consequences. Hijinks ensue, which involve a lot of running around. Didn't really work for me, alas.

STAR WARS(r): THE NEW JEDI ORDER: EDGE OF VICTORY (2-in-1 of CONQUEST and REBIRTH) by Greg Keyes (Alternate)

I missed this.

TIME ENOUGH FOR LOVE by Robert A. Heinlein (Alternate)

Lazarus Long is reintroduced after a quarter century plus absence from SF that readers were not half as grateful for as they should have been. The elderly immortal is saved from death by ennui by well meaning relatives. Between nailing clones and other relatives, he recounts various episodes from his life, some of which if considered on their own are quite good. The frame sequence is pure Late Heinlein and if you like that sort of thing, you're a disgusting perv--I mean, this is the sort of thing you'd like. The book will also hold up one end of a couch satisfactorily.

THE LAST VAMPIRE by Whitley Strieber (Alternate)

I refuse to read or buy anything by this plagiarist.

THE FALL OF NESKAYA by Marion Zimmer Bradley & Deborah J. Ross
(Alternate)

Another MZB I didn't read.

THE YOUNG WIZARDS (5-in-1 of SO YOU WANT TO BE A WIZARD, HIGH WIZARDRY, DEEP WIZARDRY, A WIZARD ABROAD and THE WIZARD'S DILEMMA) by Diane Duane (Alternate)

Own it, have not read it yet.

LUIS ROYO 2002 CALENDAR (Alternate)

I didn't see this.

VISIONS: SFBC 2002 CALENDAR (Alternate)

Or this.

I'm betting we'll hear about it when and if he does. (I -think- he's said elsewhere he read the first one, but am not sure. If he did, and has the 5-in-1, I don't know how he'd've stopped there...)
