I did like the book when I read it as a teenager - a lot! But things I've read since then, not just about/by Card but about the book itself and the series of which it's a part, have led me to reevaluate the reasons I liked it, in such a way that I suspect I would not enjoy it so much now. And the movie doesn't sound tremendously interesting.

I reread it a couple of years ago out of curiosity, and it was very apparent that what I got out of it as a teenager wasn't really what Card was putting into it. Kessel's famous essay is pretty much on the money.
