I just _bought_ TYBF&H 2008, 21st Annual Collection! Edited by Datlow, Link, & Grant... Literally _today_. (I remember thinking it a little odd that it was copyright October 2008, rather than January 2009...)

I just went and looked at it; it's sitting there on top of the stack of other unread tYBF&H and tYBSF (they take a while to read through, okay?). I done touched it. It exists.

Do they, possibly, mean that there will be no volume covering 200_9_, no Twenty-Second Annual Collection? The notice you link to seems to preclude that, though, as it's almost impossible they'd be "deep in final reading" for it this month...

The 2008 vol #21 contains stories from 2007 (I know this, 'cos I'm in it...). That's how best-of anthos happen, a year in arrears. So the one we won't get, the one they've been reading for would have been 2008 stories, put together and published in 2009. (Tho' I'd lay a small bet that a small press will pick the series up, actually...)
