Tell that to all the cynical people who claim "my vote never makes a difference". Especially the ones who don't vote because of that belief.

Any chance the by-election will go the amusing way? Which is I think the reason that doesn't happen here (UK) any more

You mean for Peter Rabbit-turd? Not much chance he won't win; that's a very securely Conservative riding. But it'll be interesting to compare the by-election results with those of the election. The previous results for Battle River—Crowfoot had Damien Kurek (Con) with 82.8%, vs. Brent Sutton (Lib) at 11.7%, James MacKay (NDP) at 3.2%, Jonathan Bridges (PPC) at 1.6%, and Douglas Gook (Green)at 0.7%. I expect that the Liberals will make a slightly stronger showing in the by-election than they did previously, but there's not a lot of wiggle room there even if all the non-Conservative voters vote Liberal and some Conservative voters want to express disapproval of PP.

Yes, that's what I meant. The largest percentage of the vote any MP got here last year was about 70%

What does an MP who resigns in such a way get out of the deal? Just a guaranteed nomination in the next election? Or do they give him a job in some right-Wing think tank that pays well as well?

Well, in the UK they can be made a Lord. Can they be made a senator?

I think it was in fact one of the top three Conservative margins last election. Someone's feeling very insecure.
