It's been made pretty plain that the reason that the JL puts up with Batman is not because Bruce has wads of money, but because Bruce has files on everyone and makes judicious use of them at the appropriate times. (Having the files might be a side effect of the application of his wealth, however...)

Similarly Tony provides lots of valuable technical assistance (and hindrance: viz Ultron) to the MCU Avengers. Without Tony, we don't get Caps shield, for example... (although it's pretty explicitly a product of colonialism, so... 8p)

In the MCU, I think it's pretty clearly Tony's fault, no? Maybe I'm mis-remembering. In the comics, yes; it's all Pym all the time.

The wealth thing reminds me of the very first Marvel Superheroes RPG which treated wealth similarly. Rather than tracking some number of dollars (problematic when dealing with inflation or trade to another planet anyway) characters just had a Resources stat. It was efficient and suited the superhero genre well.

Colossus wants to pick up a sofa? That's so trivial relative to his Strength that success is automatic. Tony Stark is taking the Avengers out to a fancy dinner? That's so trivial relative to his Resources that success is automatic.

Meanwhile Aunt May might not be able to move the sofa and Peter Parker might have to check his wallet before going to McDonalds.
