My poor cat Groucho becomes extra shaggy in the winter and as a result has endless trouble with snarls in his coat. And he hates having them combed or trimmed out. Oh, well. Fur's twirled problems.
My brain skipped right over that line. I mean I saw it, and thought it odd without paying attention because it was a post about a cat with matted fur, and I knew a cat once that had that problem, and the only way to deal with it was to bring it to a vet or groomer who could somehow manage to shave the cat down without being shredded, and I thought that wouldn't be good advice on my part because I've got the idea, which might be invalid, that James doesn't have the budget for vets or groomers in a non-life-threatening circumstance.

So all I picked up was the surface meaning.
Oh. Oh. Oh......
