"$11, $9 for students and 55+"

But I'll be too young for the discount! Whoot!

BY TWO WEEKS. WHAT THE HELL, INEXORABLE PASSAGE OF TIME?

Oh, 55 is the new 30. In base 18...

Senior discounts are indeed a weird experience. In the States, there are a few at 55, a reasonable number at 60 and 62, and lots at 65. I'll be 65 in July, and I still am surprised when I qualify for one. But I am so looking forward to reducing my transit costs by 2/3.

Getting older sure beats the alternative.

I remember visiting Imperiums To Order (with great excitement) when I was *thirteen*.

I'll be *forty-three* next month.

I'm treating this as proof that we live in a simulation...

You should file a bug report with the simulation programmer--he missed a break in a case statement in do_politics(), and that's really been screwing things up lately...

You've got ten months on me, and I, too, occasionally get senior discounts without asking for them. I used to be a little resentful, now I'm just bemused and appreciate saving a couple of kopecks.

I've been 55 (base 10) for three weeks now, and it's not that bad, really, touch wood / superstitious tic of one's choice.

My recent version: There's feeling old because you have grey in your beard, and there's feeling old because your ex-undergrads have grey in their beard.

Then there's learning that your little baby is a grandfather.

This comment made me realize in 11 months (when I turn 40, Oh Christ I didn't order that, take it back!) I will be the age you were when I first started making a point of reading your comments and commentary, back in the Last Days of Usenet. Christ, I may be wrong about that. I may be that age now.

Damnit James, I'm not sure how, but I'm convinced that this is your fault. Stop getting older and bringing the rest of us with you.
