Just how many stories about actors caught up in momentous political events who are also engaging in a journey of self-discovery are there, anyway?

Which biography of Ronald Reagan would be best to make a triptych of these reviews?

Or would the long arc of Arnold Schwartzenegger's career be more fun to read about?

I am not aware of Reagan ever having engaged in a journey of self-discovery.

His autobiography's title Where's the Rest of Me? is not a good choice in this context.

Able Archer '83, combined with a White House screening of The Day After, did get him to realize that his bellicose tone wasn't helpful. That's one of the main reason he went from zero summit meetings during his first term to five in his second. Too bad he didn't send a memo to the rest of the Republican Party, or maybe they'd realize that sitting down to talk to Gorbachev did more to end the Cold War than SDI and all the "Evil Empire" speeches.

This strikes me as snide, but, I am forced to admit, neither am I.

Oh, it's definitely snide.

I'll give half credit to Sean O'Hara's observation - not while he was an actor and a single realization rather than something I would call self-discovery, but hey, better than nothing.

Footnotes can't decide whether they want to be superscripted or [INSIDE BRACKETS].

I think there's some kind of bizarre conservation law applying to James' review footnotes.

This novel showed up on the roster for the annual Turkey Readings panel at VCON. This is clearly a sign that I should read it. XD

Albeit possibly with a side helping of vodka!

Based on the review, this seems as prescient of modern day American sensibilities (or at least those of about 50% of the population) as the original Death Race 2000 & Brave New World.
