Achievement "Staircase bannister gives way as I am using it": unlocked. The bannister itself is fine. Just need two new supports...

Never mind the bannister (here's the Sex Pistols!), but is James fine?

A good point... I hope "supports" isn't a euphemism for "legs".

I am amazingly well set for a broken leg situation. At least, once I crawl to the phone to call 9/11.

I can no longer remember the author or the details, but something akin to this:

Regaining consciousness and working your way out from under the ladder while wrapped in set wallpaper: not too bad.

Jiggling the table with your foot until the phone falls off it: easy.

Wriggling over to the phone and dialing with your tongue: piece of cake.

The hard part is convincing people.

Oh, yes. Didn't even fall.

So many achievements and so little time.

Hopefully you are healthy or at least as healthy as you were before the curious bannister incident.

Was it a one cat, two cat, or All The Cats come/go running noise?

Zero. It was very quiet; put weight on the bannister, realized it felt wrong, realized it broke as I leaned on it. As I was examining it wonder how best to avoid a broken step situation, the other support broke.

All woodwork should be overseen by a frame carpenter, even if someone else needs to do the fine detail.

The first thing learned in that job is that sooner or later everything you make has to support the weight of a carpenter.
