A collection of Life Model Decoys launch a class action suit against SHIELD claiming that their 13th and 14th Amendments rights, among others, have been violated. Outcome?

Specify comic book era in which this happens. Different eras and writers, different outcomes.

HYDRA attacks the court where She-Hulk is arguing their case, at least three massive splash pages of the fight takes place, turns out that it's actually a trick by the Livewires in an attempt to seize the remaining stock of LMDs from SHIELD.

Given the difficulty the US government has had admitting mutants are human, I don't think they'd have a chance.

Suit is thrown out of court because, being fictional characters, they lack "standing" to sue.

I thought it was pretty hardcore when Dipper Pines casually murdered all of his photocopies. Though Paper Jam Dipper didn't mind.

It's not clear to me that robots and AIs even have rights in the Marvel universe. Or that those laws don't distinguish between "androids" (like the Vision) and robots (like Life Model Decoys).

Of course, they made the Vision the actual father of two children, so counting on consistency might be asking a bit much.

I was going to say taking the position that robots and androids are not people risks the same problems the people over DC chose to avoid when they declined to go after Lois Lane for bestiality but come to think of it the US government did confiscate and dismantle the Vision at least once.

Well, those two children turned out to be hysterical hallucinations of the Scarlet Witch's, nice way to empower female superheroes AND families AND women in general there, Marvel...

--Dave, still, I hear the current DC can beat that any week of the month

I don't think any LMD was depicted as actually sentient before the Nick Fury Vs. SHIELD miniseries of the late '80s.

Incidentally I suspect that sometimes Hydra member Viper, and perhaps the Madame Hydra that debuted in that series, were inspirations for the character design of Shego in Disney's Kim Possible cartoon. All three are women with long black hair who wear lots of green.

This strikes me as the basis for a find year-long crossover event, maybe as a followup to Age of Ultron, which is supposed to be happening right now.

I think it's arguable that in the Marvel version of the United States the Constitution doesn't actually exist, or if it does, it's more in the manner of suggestions and custom rather than enforceable law.

And really, do you want the people who produced Civil War to write anything involving law?

I have absolutely no idea what this is talking about, and I'm trying to work out what a Life Model Decoy might be, given that a life model is someone who poses nude in an art class.

It's a robot duplicate of somebody, apparently introduced by Marvel in the 1960s "Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD" comic.

(And people are speculating that Phil Coulson, a character who was apparently killed quite dead in the movie The Avengers and is mysteriously walking around alive in the Agents of SHIELD pilot, might be one.)

I haven't seen The Avengers (re-christened The Avengers Assemble in the UK to avoid confusion with the sixties TV series) and Agents of SHIELD is starting tomorrow on UK TV.

Still, I prefered my idea of something to avoid nude art models getting too much attention.

Unfortunately, the Agents of SHIELD was not very good.

I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't retitle the movie in the US, given that the film adaptation of the other Avengers with Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman was so terrible. But nobody seems to remember it.
