Cain and Abel repeat their story with variations in a selection of poorly realized historical periods. I stopped about ten minutes in, at the seemingly obligatory rape scene.

I keep reading the subject line as "Time's Arrow, Time's Squid" and thinking of cephalopod mating practices.

Well, a snail penis in at least some species is sort of a drill, so you could manage mollusc mating practices... I don't know anything about squid mating, though. Squids are sort of arrow-shaped, so maybe there's a connection there.

Or maybe my medication hasn't kicked in and I only think there's a connection...

AIR Squids have a specially adapted tentacle that the males use to transfer sperm packets and iirc strangle rivals.

We live in fear of the dreaded Air Squid...flying through the oceans of air, and occasionally letting loose a blast of dark smog. Some say that orignally the earth was entirely lit, and only the clouds of darkness from the Air Squids caused night.

Someone should write a story called "Obligatory Rape Scene," preferably one that does not contain rape.

Maybe a ghostwriter for some celebrity, and through the discussion of the obligatory rape scene he or she figures out that the celebrity is an alien or a time traveller or something? Have to think about it.
