but for the life of me I cannot remember anything about the plot of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

There's a dialog exchange from the commercial for that movie that went:

Patient: "This isn't going to cause brain damage, is it?"
Doctor: "Well, technically this is brain damage."

And then the whole rest of the plot falls into my memory.
