Gettysburg

This would have been more timely a few days ago: it is an account of the Battle of Gettysburg, in which the Slavers and their fellow travelers lost an important battle to the United States.

Don't know the battle in detail so I cannot comment on the accuracy.

I really should do a Rick Mercer-style bit of stage setting but I don't remember 1965 all that clearly. I think this was the year I nearly died of pneumonia in West Germany, had two three concussions, drank an entire bottle of sherry, got a third degree burn on my thigh and turned four. Perhaps the wretchedness of 1965 explains why I avoided so much published this year.

A train carrying crude oil derailed overnight in the heart of Lac-Mégantic in Quebec's Eastern Townships, sparking a major fire that led to the evacuation of 1,000 people from their homes.

Just read on the French CBC site that Montreal, Maine & Atlantic just confirmed that there was no one on the train, it was guided by an autopilot system... WOW. 73 wagons of crude at 100 tonnes each, and no human supervision on board...
