For the last two years, the agency [United States Immigration and Citizenship Services] has kept a list of same-sex couples whose green card petitions were denied, the officials said, anticipating that the Supreme Court would eventually weigh in on DOMA. Those denials will now be reversed without couples having to present new applications, if no other issues have arisen.

Some SF writers do, although probably not for the same reasons nostalgic ex-Soviets do:

Fellow Traveler [...] (1991), also with Capobianco, is perhaps more straightforward, but again shows a remarkable grasp of the human shape of experience, in this case a Near-Future Soviet attempt to harness an asteroid for industrial purposes. The authors were clearly unfortunate in writing their tale before the collapse of the USSR, but it remains the case that – given the continuing malaise of the US space programme – this novel does successfully make one feel that there have been losses as well as gains in the end of the Cold War.

Fellow Traveler had its single to date printing in July 1991. The Soviet Union was dissolved on 26 December 1991. Truly, science fiction is the realm of clear-eyed visionaries.

(Spinrad's Russian Spring had an edition the year after the SU went poof, although the first edition predated the fall of the SU by a good two months)

Carlotta's Serape

A Mexican woman finds herself bidding against a rich American for ownership of a prized serape. Luckily for her, the bidding process isn't weighed by who has the most money.

The Son of Man

A religious play of sorts. I didn't listen to it because I wasn't interested in listening to the Christian Gospels back when I didn't have a choice and I am still not now that I do.

Light Ship

A light ship is a ship that serves as a light house where building a light house is not practical. This one is something like nine months into what was supposed to be a five or six month tour, no relief is in sight and the strain has built to lethal levels.

Nightmare

A man's nightmare, presented as a play. At the end, we get a conversation that explains the symbolism.
