In the blogger's defense, Republican love usually involves the exchange of money or blows so it is understandable if they were unable to recognize other forms of affection.
The lack of journalistic diligence reminds me of the time a reporter exposed the torrid affair between self-admitted socialist party leader Jack Layton and his subordinate Olivia Chow without the bother of even a cursory background check. In the reporter's defense, he or she may have come from some backwater like Hérouxville where the sight of a visible minority is so uncommon as to shut down all rational thought.
