"While we have been working on the economy, the opposition has been working on a backroom deal to overturn the results of the last election without seeking the consent of voters. They want to take power, not earn it."

(Stephen Harper in a statement to the press on the possibility of the Conservative minority government being replaced by a majority coalition of opposition parties - November 28, 2008)

“As leaders of the opposition parties, we are well aware that, given the Liberal minority government, you could be asked by the Prime Minister to dissolve the 38th Parliament at any time should the House of Commons fail to support some part of the government’s program. We respectfully point out that the opposition parties, who together constitute a majority in the House, have been in close consultation. We believe that, should a request for dissolution arise this should give you cause, as constitutional practice has determined, to consult the opposition leaders and consider all of your options before exercising your constitutional authority. Your attention to this matter is appreciated."

(From a letter to the Governor-General signed by Jack Layton, Gilles Duceppe, and Stephen Harper - September 9, 2004)

Greta Scacchi once played Tuppence of Tommy and Tuppence and nobody told me? I've long thought the media has underexploited those two characters.

Wait, they did a T&T movie and made Miss Marple the detective instead of T&T. Bastards.

1: But only mostly. I was thinking about elderly crime solving women recently because of the reference to the Snoop sisters here and the two old ladies on Bones and it amusing me to come up with a pair of characters I'll never use.

Is it coincidental that every American cozy I am sent is set in a small town?

The NDP and Liberals have reached a deal to topple the minority Conservative government and take power themselves in a coalition, CBC News has learned.

"The most difficult question is who'll be the leader," Boag said, adding that Dion, who negotiated the deal, believes he has the right to be prime minister.

If it's not Dion, at least make sure it's not the Ig or Bob Rae (Although at least Rae has experience with Liberal/NDP coalition governments).

Say, is Roy Romanow busy?

OTTAWA–The NDP says it may pursue criminal charges after the Conservatives covertly listened in, taped and distributed audio of a closed-door NDP strategy session.

Enjoy!
