Titan was very popular among my high school friend group because there was a prostitution license from My County, Texas, and we thought that was the funniest thing ever. (Is that all I remember about it? No! There was a spaceship too!)

A very weak year for me. I've read Clarke's The Fountains of Paradise & Varley's Titan. I might have read some of the other works, but if so, I have no recollection of them.

Funny. That was my personal golden age of science fiction.

I'd never heard of Hilbert Schenck, and haven't read anything by Michael Bishop or Barry B. Longyear.

Two of those items I know from their film adaptations: Enemy Mine (made for TV movie) and Sand Kings (Outer Limits episode, they control the vertical and the horizontal, please stand by). As for The Fountains of Paradise, I'd read anything by Arthur C. Clarke. All I remember is the CORA emergency on the space elevator.

Definitely one, possibly more, from Omni magazine, which I had a subscription to. Or rather my parents got me one (I was 15), in a surprising recognition of my interests..

Omni was a pretty darn good source for short fiction of a certain stripe. Pity about the rest of the rag.

Observing my results from several of these, it's clear that at the time I did not read a lot of shorter works. I pick up the occasional short story or novelette from OMNI or the annual collections I was fond of buying but novellas are rare in my history until the 2000s.

Fountains of Paradise is probably my favourite Clarke. I absolutely love the structure.
