That work shift certainly featured more projectile vomiting in the audience than is ideal.

Okay, you can't just leave that sitting there.

If it was drink, whatever. If it was norovirus, I hope you had bleach for disinfecting the mess, and wore gloves, or at least washed up thoroughly afterwards.

Way back in the before times I used to be a Skytrain attendant. BC Transit always gives free rides on New Years to encourage people who drink not to drive.
So, one frosty New Years Eve, there I am, at Nanaimo Street station at about 1:30 in the morning watching the last few trains of the evening come through on their way to New Westminster. A train rolls in and stops. 8 doors open up, 8 heads stick out and throw up copiously on the platform, 8 doors close and the train rolls away, leaving me with 8 puddles of fresh vomit gently steaming on the freezing tiles.
Very luckily, our Management had anticipated this and provided all stations with a huge barrel of kitty litter which we could sprinkle over.
That was such a fun evening.

It's like a Busby Berkeley film shot in Hell.

I'm impressed they all managed to hold long enough to get into the station and didn't lose it en route. Broadway to Nanaimo has that big curve and a couple of sway-y sections.

(That said, maybe there were more than the eight, and woe to the unlucky people who had to clean that car after it got back to the yard?)

They always scheduled in extra cleaning staff in the service yard on New Years. Amazingly they got all the trains back into service by the next morning.
A year or three afterwards, they ripped out all the carpets and installed plastic resin floors. I'm guessing that the carpeting was discovered to be a Bad Idea (tm).
