I'm getting a vibe of Malzberg's Chorale, which is also about time travel and unexpected results

Was there a short story version of this novel? I remember reading the "Queen Elizabeth dies of smallpox while time traveler is camping in her brain" in a women's SF anthology. Aurora Rising, I think. I know that I conflated the name and title with a different story, which led to many disappointed wrong turns over the years.

Being indeed by the author of "Never Moon a Werewolf", which is the one I want to know more about. ;-)

I was thinking about Barbara a few days ago - along the lines of "she must be ninety now, is she still around?". I knew her slightly via online Blake's 7 fandom, although I lost contact years ago; I loved her mysteries but somehow never got around to reading the sf. I should probably do that, even if it's likely to be somewhat odd.
