While it's not your thing, and I do understand that it's got its issues, it's made its way into my 'comfort book' stash.

I do wonder if the characters from Rat God ever crossed paths with the characters from Scott and Graham's Order of the Air series.

"volume 1" would seem to imply the existence of a volume 2. Is there a sequel in print? Or even out of print?

There's also Scandal in Babylon, which came out this year. It's a mystery with the same characters, just with different names. And its a historical mystery, with no magic mentioned, even with regards to the events of the previous books.

Museums play a critical role in keeping cursed artifacts out of circulation. If that necklace had been in a museum, no one would be wearing it, and the Rat God would remain a bachelor.

I remember this book fondly, and I've reread it a few times. I'm sure I still have it in my collection. I'll have to track down the sequel.
