Bones: "The Bullet in the Brain"

Well, that was unusually graphic, even for Bones.
Did it bother anyone else that

Early on when Booth works out from the impact site of the bullet and the point where it made the Gravedigger's head go all explody where the bullet had to have come from and we get look in that direction, it's completely incompatible with what we see from the POV from where the shooter actually was? Does Washington DC have an usually high rate of construction and demolition or what?
Also, why did nobody follow up on the garage doors being locked? That was what set up the shot, someone had to have arranged for it but as far as I recall it was either not pursued or resolved off stage.
