I think spoons may be better tools for making sandwiches than knives.

I don't make sandwiches very often, but I've found a rubber or silicone spatula to be still more useful.

Spoons are my only sandwich-making tool. Because sandwiches are mayo vehicles.

If you mean for the dispensing of condiments and some spreads, I agree. I do this all the time because we seem to run out of clean table knives faster. Also, knives don't really work to get the last of the mustard out of a tall container -- it all ends up on the handle of the knife. Spoons will actually collect it.

For spreading peanut butter and other condiments, you have a point. For slicing a block of cheese or a chunk of meat, I don't see spoons as very useful. I am open to experimental evidence to the contrary, though.

Maybe if you sharpen the edge of the spoon. I think you'd need a lot of practice to make a straight cut through the sandwich, though.
