Also I am pretending that I can't read.

"Sun is setting behind some planet or other, not really sure which one. A... thing... spaceship? A city! On a river. Woman in a house. Spaceship again, maybe the same one? Some guy, I guess in the same house. Some gigantic corporation made this movie. A city by the sea, or maybe a lake. A spaceship flying over the city. A spaceship flying over a canyon. People in car. Some other guy, some guy in a ludicrous outfit. In a car again. Explosions! Stuff falls, a guy is in... what was that? Car again. Bees! Bees, or bugs. Stupid outfit and some thing. Something explodes out of something, some rings maybe. Antigravity... something. Spaceship. Candles! Lots of candles, hey. And some statues, and some ceremony, big ceremony. Some guys in classy, leather outfits. Another spaceshiup, another guy, I don't know what is it, a marriage ceremony? Tron! City... lights! That guy doesn't look happy. Spaceship? That guy looks... where is that, Coruscant? Coruscant again? Then this guy, uh, what? Thing with wings. Stupid titles that I don't care about. And then space bike..? Planet with the usual, uh, thingies. Antigravity boots! More antigravity boots. Thing, and that guy in a cathedral somewhere. A gun! And something rockets up out of the atmosphere of some planet. That guy, um, explosions, spaceships, and.. the title of the movie!"

So, are twins all saints? Because one of the properties of saints is that they can bi-locate.

Man, when the first Matrix came out it swept the world; I remember an entire web site built (by philosophers!) discussing the philosophical implications of the film's premise and how it was an excellent jumping-off point for learning more of the subject.

Turns out that film was accidental genius or something. Past performance does not guarantee future performance, indeed...

Please, if you have any familiarity with the source material, do not read their script for a proposed Plastic Man movie. It is the worst script that I have ever read that was actually coherent. The Hulk was a better adaptation. The Spirit was a better adaptation. Catwoman was a better adaptation. If Ed Wood had worked on it he would have improved it. Hell, if the screenwriter for Manos, the Hands of Fate had worked on it *he* would have improved it. When I read it I thought of PNH's old line: "This is stupid. I now have stupid all over me."

And after the success of the first Matrix movie it almost went into production. It was originally written as a Jim Carey vehicle: that version was to have starred Keanu Reeves. Insert the comparison of your choice here.

Plastic Man. *sigh*. Why is it that the subtle properties are often the worst served? I admit to having real and honest doubts about Deadpool: the movie.

The Matrix itself was okay, though I admit to being unable to watch it a second time. The second movie was boooo-rinnnnng. The third - we gave that one a miss. I have been highly sceptical about Jupiter Rising since the first trailer.

I wonder if Kermode will like it the way he likes Lucy - because "it it bonkers."

Why do people keep talking about there being a second and third Matrix films? Everyone knows that's just an urban legend.

The Matrix? It was a lightweight version of The Thirteenth Floor with less scientific plausibility but some neat visuals. I was pretty astounded by all the people taking it seriously.

This looks to be about on the same level.

THEY STOLE THAT FROM ANDROMEDA, BOO.

(and they had the decency to call it "genetic reincarnation" and to 1, treat it as a quasi mystical belief during the hard sci-fi period of the show and then 2, to use it as a way to justify using an actor who'd previously played a character from the distant past to play a new role in the cast)

Hooray, another film that appears to carry the theme of "ordinary people aren't capable of doing or changing anything; we must put all of our hopes for safety in the hands of our social superiors, who are superior to us by right of birth."

Spewwwwww.

Obviously I was wrong.

I thought we'd gotten long past "Humans didn't evolve on earth."

As hypothesized by Twain and confirmed by Moore, it was another planet of the same name.

It's a SF major motion picture. You want scientific accuracy?

The question is whether things will blow up in satisfactory ways or not.

These are the people that brought us "The Matrix", where human beings somehow generate more power than it costs to keep them fed in giant tubes.

"The question is whether things will blow up in satisfactory ways or not."

That is no longer enough for me, which is why I missed out on the last two Transformers movies. I also need at least a few gorgeous set designs (whether actual or digital) and either some humor or semi-competent acting before I put up with this level of stupid.

(I'm more forgiving of superhero movies, since the science is _of course_ going to be absurd. Goes with the territory.)
