There was something on the order of a barn fire to the east of where we were but I have been unable to find out what it was.

There was an earthquake in California, and a volcano in Iceland looked like it was going to erupt, but didn't.

Assorted bad things happening to people in various parts of the world didn't get noticeably worse, but didn't get better either.

The California earthquake was centered in the Napa valley. Lots of broken wine bottle jokes on the Internet.
(To make that a bit less tasteless, it appears no one was killed.)
