We... were actually melting ice for a few days.

It's dropped below freezing again.

There was a very sizable meltback in Chicago this last week. 50+ F temperature + strong wind will do that.

It was pretty good, but it still had to overcome inches of ice and snow. I've still got about two to three (it's not level) inches of ice in back.

Here in the urban heat island, the sidewalks are clear and dry on the sunny side and only lightly amended with flow ice on the shade side, the roads are mostly dry, and the side-drifts, where the snow ploughs make them, are filthy, crusted masses but they've shrunk by a factor of four in the last week. Cold tonight isn't going to save them; more rain than snow in the forecast.

Might actually be decent maple syrup weather next week.

Perfect weather here (East of Fort Wayne, Indiana). The snow is melting nearly every day, but the creek isn't even up to normal spring depth. We had enough snow to duplicate the "So *that's* why there's a culvert there" flood of a few years ago.
