If you look into a mirror and say "David Brin" out loud three times, he will show up and denounce you for gossiping about him.

Is there a spell for banishing him afterward?

Three hundred "David Brins" so far, and he hasn't shown up. I'm getting kind of hoarse, so no more than another hundred and two repetitions.

That's what you get for looking into a mirror.

If you were an adult like him, you'd see how your gossip is just part of the petty politics that he rises above.

Seeing as how mirrors invert everything, is it safe to say this isn't a left-versus-right issue either?

so one would then have to say nirbdivad and inverse of three times? Now my brain hurts..

He will demonstrate this by building a flying car lifted solely by an under-body framework holding computers running realtime feeds of the SFWA kerfluffle.

I've been saying "David Breen" and all that's happened is my dorm has gotten colder.

If you say "Wallace Breen" the Earth gets conquered, so don't do that either.

And we'll just skip right over what happens if you say "Walter Breen," but it's bad. Really.

It's past time for that manure pit to be cleaned out too. It's been fifty years, and Ye Olde Fandom still clams up whenever that name is mentioned.

From: [identity profile] tandw.livejournal.com
How much of Ye Olde Fandom is left around to clam up about him, anyway? (Hmmm...a few authors left from around then; Ellison, Silverberg, who else?)

From: [identity profile] carloshasanax.livejournal.com
Oh, Breen was still molesting children pretty much until the day they put him in prison. That was in the early 1990s. All those fen, all those authors, keeping their mouths shut because they didn't want to rock the boat (or worse), for nearly thirty years.

Gah. Maybe it's because the fandom I was largely peripheral to was in the Upper Midwest, but I hadn't heard anything about the unlamented Mr. Breen until well after he died.

Yeah; unfortunately, not being familiar with Half-Life that was the first thing I thought of when I saw Wallace Breen.

Aw, I made fun of him on a previous thread and I get nothing. I feel inadequately despised.

I guess my mistake was in only mentioning him twice.

OK, I admit defeat. I tried to find the context and failed. Is this related to the current SFWA/Fodera kerfuffle, or some other madness unfolding in the depths of usenet?

Oh sure, you could do that, but why would you risk it.
