And he told him so. Interesting for a cat who spent years cowering in the back of a closet, Groucho marched right up to Unnamed and told him off to his face.
Unnamed is basically amiable and Groucho isn't a physical cat. When he and Blotchy played, it didn't involve full contact (except once, when it became apparent Groucho had never thought what would happen if he won the tug of war and yanked Blotchy off the vanity).
You have to name the new dude. You have to give in to the fact that you are keeping him. Nameless kinda makes sense since she is so resolutely not interested in interacting with humans, but the new dude sounds very chummy. Rupert or Norbert or Gawain or Fitch or Chaz or Buttons or Zinnia Bits or Poltergeist or Zietgeist (however spelled) or Zigfield ....
Terry Pratchett recommends one syllable names you won't mind calling outside for in the middle of the night whilst banging a cat dish. Zut I believe was one he mentions.
He also says black and white cats are almost always cartoon cats so don't be surprised if he pulls a mallet out of nowhere or goes running over the edge of something and hangs in the air for longer than you think possible.
As you can see I'm doing this from memory, not sure where my cat book is.
