I watched season 1, but I've abandoned it during season 2. I think Claire Danes is excellent, but the PlotTwistFTW? has exceeded my ability to suspend disbelief.

Haven't watched it myself, but I know at least one Six Feet Under-loving, the Wire-obsessed, Breaking Bad-fixated, Mad Men-craving couple who are currently gulping it down with relish.

I LOVED season 1 and am waiting impatiently for season 2 to come to iTunes. Your other commenter has convinced me not to get cable just to subscribe to Showtime, but I did consider that strategy briefly as I am that impatient to see the second season.

I am not really a fan of Claire Danes, Mandy P, or spy stories, but Homeland is so well done and character-driven and compelling. Definitely worth watching. I was afraid it would be like 24 but it isn't, at all.

Claire Danes is incredible. Scripts are good. I'm not sure how realistic it is.

It's a bit much US-terrorism-Real-True-Threat for me. I gave up partway through the pilot.

Some really interesting stuff with the central character (Carrie Mathison, brilliantly played by Danes): she's mentally ill (bipolar, specifically), with lots of the risky destructive behaviors of someone who is off their meds. But she's also right. Other people on the show are recognizably people, including those who might reasonably be described as terrorists. It's not saintly spies versus demonic bad guys.

Beautifully shot and scored--like a really good movie, where the score speaks (when it does) like secret part of the dialogue. Jazz-music and madness and processing information with a damaged brain are mingled in the themes of the show.

The first season can be a little harrowing but is very good. The second season has had one or two things that made my suspension of disbelief a little too unwilling. But I'm still watching it.

I fairly recently watched the first season in one big gulp, and found it pretty riveting. I'm a fan of Damien Lewis from a little ways back, and I think he does well with a difficult (if at times perhaps a little too opaque) role. Clare Danes is pretty incredible, and I like Morena Baccarin as well - her part is not as flashy but I think she's a good anchor.

No idea about the second season - at some point it'll be available on iTunes and I'll watch it then.

Yes. I missed the first few episodes of the first series, but was riveted from the first episode I saw. Danes and Lewis are both great, their roles are intriguing and multi-dimensional, and the plot develops nicely. Mandy Patenkin is also good in his supporting role. That said, the plot might be a little fantastic, but I think it's within reasonable bounds for a US series about the War on Terr.

The second series might be showing a few signs of the rails rattling, but it's still good six episodes in.

I'd been meaning to get this via iTunes; this finally got me to do so.

I like Lewis; I really liked Life. Plus Mandy Patinkin and Morena Baccarin; what could go wrong?

(Strangely, I actually still seem to be subscribed to Showtime, but I refuse to watch it because of their damned annoying logo. I need to cancel that.)

Patinkin decides to run out in a snit halfway through a season? His track record with staying on for the long run of a series isn't good.

Yes: Danes, Baccarin, and Patinkin are excellent, and Damien Lewis's performance is good enough it makes me want to go watch his show Life, which I didn't get to (didn't avoid it, just didn't get to it) when it was on. I think some elements are a bit unrealistic but not overly so, and there's more depth on both sides of the conflict than I expected.

I have all kinds of ethical reasons for not watching Homeland.

But now I learn that Morena Baccarin is in it? Gads, she is one of the most beautiful women ever on screen, always worth watching. Wonder if there's any way to see her scenes only? :)

Love, C.

I got bored with it after a couple of episodes, but it does seem to be popular with the people who write about TV in the newspapers.

It's shown on Channel 4 in the UK, and Sky TV have shown the Israeli series on which it is based.
