Norway is reported to have experienced a fair sized meteor impact.

Luckily the region involved doesn't seem to be densely populated.

I'm not convinced there will be a crater. The picture that's circulating seems to show the aftermath of an airburst. This could be another Tagish Lake, that was a 5 kiloton airburst.

Good thing we saw that coming. Oh, wait.

And lucky us, our meteor defense system took care of it and...*sigh*.

I think Clark may be right- we'll need a major impact on a major populated area before governments get serious about doing something about potential meteors.

Do we really need one? Earth is so thinly populated that the odds of a major strike on a city are probably fairly low. We might be able to save more lives in the long run by investing the money in other efforts.

Do you have any links to that picture ?

Most important, is actually anyone trying to collect any samples ?

It's probably just Wal-Mart testing their orbital bombardment satellites in revenge for this.
