A shame. I didn't care for his books (wanted to hit Hope with a very large hammer most times), but he died too young.

Agreed - he wasn't my favourite author but 62 is way too young.

Agreed; his books were frustrating, but still showed talent (that's why I read as many of them as I did).

Now that's bizarre: he was a resident of my birthplace. I'm going to have to check with my parents to see if they knew him when we lived there: he was the same age as my mother.
