Did "friends of friends" become an option on LJ?

As in viewing your friends-of-friends page? It's been an option for paid accounts as long as I can remember, which is at least for several years.

(On DW it's the "network" page.)

As a page to read? Many years!

Bzuh.

Paid account only, apparently.

It doesn't always appear as an option on every page. From the portal or home page as a drop down option yes, and sometimes next to manage friends when reading your flist.

As long as I've been around. I use it pretty often. Sometimes I find it pretty much too much to take, though.

Ages ago, as a paid account option. I think the option pertains to the account being asked about, not the user: that is, if I have this right, any random user could look at my friends-of-friends page, but I can't log in to my paid account to get that information about a free account.

Around the same time "enemy of my enemy" did.

It's been around for years, for paid accounts. But I think that a recent redesign put an actual link for it on the top banner; before that, I had to make my own link to put in one of my sidebars.

Mine used to be interesting to read on occasion, but now it's dominated by ohnotheydidnt.

The problem with ONTD is you have to subscribe to be able to post over there. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has friended that community for the occasional moments when I want to go read and/or comment. It's filtered out of my own custom friendslist, but anyone else reading my friendslist won't see it filtered out, of course.

I have been able to from the very first day of my account - how else do you find people (search always brought the weirdest things - nobody I knew). I didn't pay for my account until about two years after starting.

I friend people back. I find it difficult to be the first one to act to establish social contact (see the naked ladies post coming up in a couple of days).

That's how I find people too. I grant my social circle's been stable for about five years now. But, still, it would've been nice if Livejournal had ever bothered to mention this friend-of-friends thing to folks by, like, putting a link somewhere that it could be found.

Of course i'm reminded as [livejournal.com profile] kynn observed for everybody, my friends are cool but the friends of my friends include some real nut cases.

Yes, but, I'm not a nexus of social spiffitude, like you. I confess that your livejournal is my replacement for afp - I'm interested in the comments made by other people. Every now and then I have something to say, and I say it, but mostly I like to read what others say.

And: CATS! :)

For many years now, at least for paid accounts.

Some of your friends have used this feature, as they have made comments on my postings, and you were the only common point of contact I could find.

Most people on my f-list are people I in real life but a few, such as James, are people first learned of from my friends friend's list.
