Does not lend itself to journal entries (or rather, boring but practical Orilo doesn't) but we're forging on. Where the previous campaigns adopted a spartan view of optional extras, the PCs in Journey have access to options some of which are not even mentioned on paper.

Short version: the PCs are newly minted Imperial Ascendants with cool extras to compensate for the GM's perception that he is railroading us somewhat. The rule of thumb isn't whether the PCs overshadow the NPCs (because he can just toss more NPCs at us) but whether we have unique areas of specialty, which I think we do.

Interesting tweak: adding 13th age incremental advancement, where instead of getting the whole array of improvements in one go, one gets one per session. I wonder how this will work out in practice?

Currently Orilo is 3.25rd level, having specialized in Monster Hunter and taken as his incremental bump Polearm Master. Being the Ascendant of War, he gets resistance to slashing damage [1] and a keen eye where assessing matters of combat are concerned. Oh, and the twice daily ability to detect giants and monsters within a mile, which I hope isn't going to be short circuited by goliaths being a sort of giant.

One hopes being Ascendant of War means Orilo will spot the hole in the way he uses Protection vs Evil and Good on the Barbarian, that it's only useful if the creatures we face are the sort covered by that particular spell.

1: Everyone got a resistance, except for the monk who already being resistant to necrotic damage is just flat out immune to it.

I am named checked around 19:00! Mispronounced but such is the fate of a person with a surname so perplexing as Nicoll.
