New Hope for SHIELD!

Feb. 23rd, 2014 01:36 pmOphelia likes to be cuddled by other cats but she does not want to be rearranged so the much larger Ibid can use her as a pillow. Also, once Ibid starts fleeing from the angry calico, Groucho will join in on the chase.

The offer:
Do you like my stuff? Have you read (or written) a short story in your own (or another) language which you think is a) totally awesome and b) very much of my sensibility? Does it have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting translated into English, and you don’t quite have the chops to get it right yourself? Is it under 7000 words, and previously published in a paying, prestigious, or otherwise gate-kept market in the source market (i.e., not slush)?

My walk home
Feb. 23rd, 2014 11:30 pmBeginning at a place I am baby sitting:
Turn off living room light, walk into door frame in dark. Small nose bleed.
Decide since the side of the secondary street I need to walk down has icy sidewalks to jaywalk to far side and try there. Realize as I get across the street the path through the snowbank is icy and high. Good news! There are cars coming so move or die. Scale the bank.
The sidewalks are nightmarishly bad; banks melted during the day and the runoff froze. About halfway home I see a woman walking my way so go to warn her about sidewalks. She warns me first about the sidewalks behind her and in front of me. Jaywalk back across the street, sidewalks horrible but not as horrible.
Did not die. Bloodlost minor. Good walk.
