CBS Radio Workshop: Portrait of Paris
May. 29th, 2013 10:18 amPortrait of Paris
An American living in Paris in 1956 does his best to convey the delights of living in Paris in 1956.
(Usual organ-donor clause re: reflexive French-bashing)
I was in Paris just once, about a decade after this was recorded. Don't remember much about it except that if you want prompt service from a French gendarme, it doesn't hurt to be drenched in blood. Oh, and their medical services were decent.
(I don't recall the 'lungs being scoured with a brillo-pad sensation' I had all the time in London. Was Paris less polluted than London in the mid-1960s?)
