If you had to guess what the one thing about Muhammad enthusiastic Islamophobe Jordan Bassior finds tolerable, what would you guess it was?

I wonder if something like this exists in Canada? We also sterilized the unwanted until more recently than you may think.

Moreover, until now there has never been a website providing an easily accessible overview of American eugenics for all American states.

This site provides such an overview.

A mystery series set in Victorian England where the detective is a woman working out a location in or near a brothel? All I remember is she was ejected from polite society after a scandal and rather than become a prostitute as everyone expected, became an eccentric consulting detective instead.

1: Any Best shorter-than-novel-length SF of the Year anthology that contains more than, oh, eight to a dozen stories is so long that the editor's net will have to gather up a self-defeatingly wide expanse of works.

2: "Self-defeatingly" is a defensible word-like object.

The computer store I've used since 2008 stopped opening for business in August and now the front door has a letter from the landlord barring all unauthorized persons from entering the premises.

This film:

accomplished what it was trying to do far more effectively than did this film:

Unless Snow White and the Huntsman was supposed to be endless and dull and give the impression of having been filmed on Dagobah, which case kudos to the creative staff.

There will be terrible consequences for filmmakers who cannot justify their poorly lit films. Terrible consequences.

Once they are dealt with, all the gratuitous jerky-cam users can also expect a midnight visit from the James Got a Headache Trying to Watch Your Damn Film Police.

Something I realized watching Snow White and the Huntman: today, CGI means movies don't have to hire Little People any more, as regular actors can just be morphed through special effects. I wonder how long it will take for CGI to be used to eliminate other groups from casting calls?

In that background I posted about a few days ago, it would be a source of irritation to Solarians not from Earth that the farther they get from the Solar system the more commonly they get called Earthfolk. In turn travelling Earthfolk are annoyed by the assumption that being from Earth means they come from the Bolshoigrad of the era.

En Passant by Britt Schweitzer and Dreamworld by Isaac Asimov

I know absolutely nothing about Britt Schweitzer but this story of a man struggling to deal with a sudden physical disability was amusing. The Asimov, very short and still far too long, was less amusing.

The Schweitzer is from New Worlds of Fantasy #2. I think Mindwebs drew from the same collection once before, for The Petrified World.

The Bible After Apocolypse by Laurence Janifer

Well, clearly my previous experience of Janifer's fiction led me to have very misleading expectations for this tale of a cognitively unusual man and invading alien lobsters. That said, my favourite story about New York, alien lobsters, and drugs is and will be this one:
