Q: With the growing success of Steampunk in recent years, is Space Opera losing its appeal as a subgenre?

1: Wow, people feel comfortable talking about trends without supplying supporting data. If you wonder why I go off on bean-counting sprees, this would be why.

2: There's no common definition of space opera being used here, which means the contributors are answering different questions.

3: It's all well and good to talk about the success of NuBattlestar but it went off the air almost 3 1/2 years ago. Look at TV now: see any spaceships?
