I was reading one of the recent collections and there's an off-handed comment about how Trudeau has killed four characters so far.

The thing is, I could have sworn that Trudeau had killed off five characters. I can only recall four, though: Dick Davenport (Heart attack while birding), Andy Lippincott (Complications due to AIDS), Lacey Davenport (Not specified as far as I recall), and Phil Slackmeyer (Not specified).

Was there a fifth supporting character who died?

I bet I was thinking of Ed Bellows, Mike's former boss who died during 9/11.

Just how many of his projects involve a protagonist whose mentor dies? Aside from Due South, Men With Brooms and Slings and Arrows, I mean.

How many of them involve a protagonist with ghost issues? At least two, obviously, but are there more?

I had some music playing in the background and I caught myself thinking "Oh, the sound track Local Hero. I haven't heard that in a while." It's actually music that Knopfler did for Cal.

Not as much as some people think.

I note with some interest Quiet_Desperation's assertation that

We are NEVER going to solve the human problems in the world because of the mankind’s strong tendency toward utter jackassery. Without some sort of Slaver telepathy amplification helmet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrint), you are never going to fix people’s broken behaviors.

I was just going to tell my slave to fetch me my wife-beating stick but now I think I will ponder Quiet_Desperation's comment.
