I recently watched all of the NIGHTSTALKER.

Like I said, for a small fee I will refrain from watching particular shows.

Assuming I have not made a basic math error, an Earthlike world orbiting a red dwarf like Proxima would put an object at the star-planet L2 point in permanent shadow. I get about 18 degrees for the apparent width of the planet from L2 vs about 10 degrees for the star.

This is interesting from a writing POV because stars like Proxima are prone to flares that can deliver about two hundred times the LD50 dose of x-rays at the distance an Earthlike planet would have to orbit at. Atmosphere will block that nicely but ships on orbit would need shielding. 12,000 km of rock in the form of a nearby world would seem to qualify as shielding.

According to Steven Barnes's blog Octavia Butler died suddenly on Saturday.

I have not been able to confirm this yet and I hope this is a case where I will have to post a retraction.

[Update: it has been confirmed and unfortunately no retraction is coming]

While I like Book Span, there's an upper limit to the work that they can send me. Accordingly, I need a second income stream and my attempts so far have either resulting in me being second best for the job or successfully getting work from someone with no ability to actually pay me.

I am open to suggestion. If anyone knows of work accessable from KW suitable to someone with 17 years experience in retail, plus any number of years reviewing material and in editing, please let me know.
