In addition to Spec-Lit 2, there are a couple of Eisenstein books out there I'd review if copies could be had. Both seem to have had very limited distribution. One was Walker Between the Worlds: A Fantasy Novella, and the other was Conspicuous SF.
Walker was an "Excerpt from the first volume of a trilogy-in-progress per a note from the author in the chapbook publication." Did I know that and forget?
The cover painting was previously seen on the January 1959 issue of Fantasy and Science Fiction, illustrating Fritz Leiber's story "The Sliver Eggheads" (later the basis for a novel).
Phyllis and Alex Eisenstein loved science fiction art and amassed a fabulous collection, particularly strong on Emshwiller and Freas. If she needed a cover for this magazine, she had a lot of classics to choose from, right in the next room.
They were also close friends of many other authors and fans, including Algis Budrys and Gene Wolfe right here in Chicagoland. I imagine that explains their presence here.
Sam Weller is noted for his biography of Ray Bradbury, among other works.
