Justine Larbalestier catagorizes crazy writers.

Seen via Whatever.

George Zebrowski is angry.

I saw this because of Charles Stross's mention of Rudy Rucker.

blanket disclaimer goes here.

So I would assume George Zebrowski would be an example of a crazy writer, and Category number 3, from the looks of things?

I say this tentatively, since after scanning that incoherent mass of verbiage, I'm still not quite sure what the point was, other than I get the feeling he thinks he's not being paid enough. Or SF writers aren't getting enough respect. And it's all the fault of the publishers.

OK, on reflection, that makes him definitely a 3. I suppose suggesting writing therapy would be a bad idea?

I'm still not quite sure what the point was

Perhaps years of reading Dave Sim editorials has honed my skills but it seemed to me the points were:

Big publishers mistreat and cheat authors.

Editors are also victims of the system.

Having to balance commercial concerns with artistic ones is problematic.

Small publishers treat authors better than large publishers but they lack the stability of large concerns.

I did say unrelated and I included a place for a blanket disclaimer.

I can't remember a time when George Zebrowski wasn't angry. Seems to be his regular and constant mode.

James, why would you want to deny any knowledge of, or connection with, blankets?

Sorry, that was me.

(Not that I wasn't tempted to deny any knowledge of, or connection to it.)

I'm afraid I got half a sentence into the Zebrowski and fell out again, stopping only to check the date on the document. (A mention of Eliot Spitzer as "New York's attorney general and next governor" will do that to those of us who live in the state, right now.)

You can tell he's a liberal because his sex scandal involved (a) an adult (b) of the opposite sex.

Didn't a Republican politician recently opt not to run for reelection after it was discovered that his mistress, the mother of his illegitimate child, had bailed him out after he got nicked driving drunk?

Yep. The mistress and child were here, he got caught driving drunk here, and the mistress bailed him out. Then the press got wind of it and he had to tell his wife. And not run for re-election. Turns out his father and uncle had been helping to support the mistress & kid, so they must have really not liked the wife.

Ah, Republican family values.

Yes, although all Congresspeople who aren't millionaires have problems with the two-house situation. They're required to keep a residence in the place they represent (frequently the wife & kids stay there) but they need a place to stay here, even if they can afford to go home on weekends. It's surprising how many congresspeople share dingy little apartments. One sleeps on a sofabed in his office and showers in the House's gym.

So if your wife is at home and you can only go home once a month or so, it's easier to get distracted locally.
