Hero High Session One

I am going to try to start game logging again.
Our characters show up for a lecture from the famed Professor Y, on loan from the high security prison he is serving time in. Long story, mistakes were made, but the current procedures to keep him from recapitulating his lamentable spree should undoubtedly be sufficient.
Present are:
Tech-Head, a technological genius who appropriated a suit of powered armour from fools who didn't understand its true potential. He arrives in full armour (alter sufficiently that nobody will recognize it.). His armour is a mixture of flowing metal and force fields.
Geodesic, a techno-sorcerer genius who created his own eldrich armour (because he couldn't work out how to fit a mundane power source into it.). The armour is a friendly gold, with ornate glowing green curlicues slowly change, in shapes that another sorcerer might recognize as Significant. Over that he has the obligatory hooded cloak (dark green because it shows stains less).
Bruiser, who is strong and tough.
An Alien Princess, name unknown. Unwilling to reveal herself as an alien, she is trying to blend in as a normal human. She is dressed in a tube top, hot pants and go-go boots, this being the traditional garb of humans.
A host of colourfully garbed people, many of whom may actually have abilities to match.
Curiously, not only do the officials seem to assume villains will attack, the flyer for the lecture has a warning about it in small print.
The lecture has barely begun (and the Alien Princess scarcely has time to blend in by asking those around her incisive questions about their sex lives, as the humans do) when a high pitched scream is heard from back stage. Bruiser is the first to investigate; the source of the sound was a reporter who tried to duck out (or snoop), only to stumble across four men in suits of powered armour.
The four miscreants (whose armour is for some reason not numbered consecutively) were in the process of stealing something from backstage when the guy from the news found them. Some would say it was an ominously coffin shaped box. Bruiser takes the view that it's just the right shape to smack someone with, so he does. Or at least tries.
By this time Geodesic has made his way backstage (his flight partially compensating for hisslow reflexes fascination with the crowd. In an attempt to contain the crooks, he forms an impervious barrier around them. He manages to contain two of them but because he misjudged distances slightly, also contains Bruiser. Bruiser doesn't look that upset that the guys in suits now have no way to run away.
Bruiser's next swat connects, shattering the oversized coffin in the process. Inside, a familiar looking android, a creation of Professor Y's. Like so many androids, this one is fond of self-improvement and world-conquering. It at least appears to be off for the moment.
Tech-Head recognizes the suits, if not the people in them. More suits of the sort he liberated, presumably stolen from the same criminal he rescued his from. Whoever is in the suits is not his equal when it comes to tech, because they have not modified the suits. Which means Tech-Head knows exactly what they can and cannot do. Their lack of aptitude is confirmed when he suggests they just run: they need parts, don't know how to make their own and want to steal them from the early version of a world-conquering robot because that's the sort of plan that always works out.
Change of priorities for Geodesic. Rather than contain the crooks, he decides to focus on making sure the android doesn't turn on. Happily, telekinesis means never having to say "I didn't bring my tools," and he quickly gets an access panel off. The power source inside proves recalcitrant but he's able to jiggle it a bit despite the distractions of the furious firefight going on around him.
"SCANNING" suggests the robot helpfully. It likes this word so much it repeats it through the fight.
The alien princess pokes her head in back stage but her reluctance to reveal her nature precludes making free with the star bolts. Instead, she blinds one goon with her tube top, then leans past Geodesic to jam her hand into the access panel where she starts testing its resistance to stellar heat plasma. Turns out it's pretty good and if 14-year-old Geodesic hadn't been inexplicably distracted at that moment, he would have noticed the flickers of arcane power that protect the robot's innards are identical to his own defenses.
A note for observers: Geodesic's sorcerous manifestations might be compared to eldrich fire flies. They do not sparkle.
Bruiser manages to knock one of the crooks cold. This is enough for the rest to reconsider their tactics. Hang around long enough and the kids might get lucky. Better to leg it with the loot.
Swatting Geodesic aside with amplified strength, one of the conscious crooks doesn't have time to drag the robot off before Geodesic hucks the criminal out the fire door withsparkling scintillating tendrils of arcane force. Undeterred, the miscreant returns just long enough to grab the robot, then exits again. Geodesic thinks unkind thoughts. Apparently so does the robot, because it suddenly grabs its kidnapper in what sounds like a painful bear hug.
There's potential for a pile up at the door as Bruiser, the alien princess (tube top in hand) and Geodesic all try to exit through the same space. They manage it as though they had practiced. Bruiser manages to connect with one of the crimnals. Efforts to disable or destroy the robot are not as successful, although the alien princess does manage to singe it a bit.
Geodesic makes a mental note: some ability to see in the dark would be useful. Tech-Head does not make this note because his suit has IR.
The robot gives some idea of comparative threat value when it ignores the super strong guy and the fellow with magical tendrils in its chest to punch the alien princess through the roof of the auditorium. Barely clinging to consciousness, she has enough presence of mind to run back out into the alley; flying would be faster but would reveal her other worldly nature.
Tech-Head considers the situation, then zips back to Professor Y, still totally confined by his bonds, to ask the robot's designer where the off-switch is. It's wireless and as it happens, while Geodesic's armour does not have radio, Tech-Head's does. He heads back to shut down the robot. This does not succeed as such but he does acquire a lot of very useful information about the robot. Perhaps he managed to get the robot to hold still for a second, because the power source finally comes out.
Unwilling to leave the scene, Geodesic hands the battery off to Tech-Head, who disposes of it safely. Which is to say, he hides it for later examination in his lair, which is not his mom's garage. Meanwhile, Geodesic successfully captures the criminals with an impenetrable sphere, which lasts whole seconds before the crooks shatter it and fly away.
In the aftermath, the alien princess notices Professor Y. slip his hand back into his restraints, as though he was getting ready to save us if he had to. She does not (I believe) mention this to anyone. To everyone's surprise, the incident has been treated as a test: those of the audience who actually did something are offered further training.
Tech-Head and Geodesic focus on dismantling the robot. For some reason, the staff warns us not to take souvenirs, like either of us need to look at something twice to remember the details.. Tech-Head makes the very reasonable point that Geodesic should really add a radio to his suit. It's a good point although it occurs to Geodesic that radio is hardly secure. Perhaps some sort of sorcerous mental link is the way to go....

No doubt.
"presumably stolen from the same criminal he rescued his from"
Perspective is so important in these situations.
"flying would be faster but would reveal her other worldly nature"
Can't have that...
Is Bruiser a player or NPC? If a player I must commend the dedication to type and surprising ability to find an appropriate unclaimed name, a taxing problem as I'm sure the Alien Princess discovered.

Date: 2019-10-24 02:46 pm (UTC)A fair part of the withering fire fight involved a flurry of near misses on both sides as everyone's dice refused to roll above 10. Where the errant blaster bolts went, I cannot say, but I do know it turned out the event organizers didn't get insurance that covered a mask fight.

Date: 2019-10-25 04:19 am (UTC)The session was titled “Orientation”. I plan four more: “Pop Quiz,” “Midterm,” “Term Paper,” and “Final Exam.”
The reporter’s name was Gabriel DuVernay.
The woman who dropped the hint about Dr Y’s apparent agelessness was Cassidy Graves. The cute young woman of Indian heritage does not yet have a known name.
