I don't disagree, but at least it's an actual scene from the book (or rather two scenes, one behind the other), and the kid is plausibly Christopher.

Good to know about this book! I haven't read any of the Chrestomanci titles, and when I tried reading the first Dalemark one with a 6yo, we ... stopped halfway through. Perhaps I can lure back the former 6yo (now 8) with a friendlier Jones title.

(My first Jones title was A Sudden Wild Magic, and still I went on to read others, but then, I was in high school.)
