I had a Waldenbooks down the street which had a decent sff selection. Once I started using the buses I could get to Comics and Co. with one change. When I got bolder, I also went to Monkeys Retreat where I could get Elfquest and Sabre. Then the Wizard of Comics opened in biking distance...

Trips to Mackinac would sometimes mean a stop in Ann Arbor to visit Eye of Agamotto.

We did yearly trips out west. I had a whole list of bookstores and comic shops. I'd be surprised if any of them are still open thirty-odd years later.

Right. In those misty times Before the Internet, simply finding the bookstores in a distant city was a challenge in itself.
