I would love to have that anthology. I've only read four of the works listed (Stapledon, Hodgson, Weinbaum, Clifton), all of which I - let's say "appreciate" rather than "enjoy". I am in entire agreement with you on Lafferty. ("OK, now what did I just read?" tends to be my reaction.)

If you want to find people saying things about Lafferty's stories, there's a facebook group, a magazine, and a convention.

I remember a number of these stories, generally with affection.

Small typo, from memory and confirmed at link: it's "Star, Bright", with a comma. The comma makes the pun.

Definitely an addition to my library of imaginary books!

Weinbaum's sentient creatures weren't Lovecraftian, but there's something suspiciously "Lovecraft discussing minorities" about the Slinkers.

Your remark reminded me of a speech by "Doctor Who" about "the trouble with computers", which is reproduced at,

(He's typing as he speaks, into a nuclear countdown machine. As will be clear.)

Basically that they do what they were programmed to do, which might not be what they were meant to do - or, not any more.
