Every generation or so there's a convention of Nicolls (and sometimes Flemings) in Hawaii. I missed the last one. I did not miss this one (though I did miss the first three weeks, so passed on things like climbing Mauna Loa). The previous one was on Maui; this one was on the island of Hawaii, a 10,000 km^2 volcanic island out in the middle of the Pacific.
