I might suppose that if someone had any capacity for introspection whatsoever, having your dad kill your step-dad would probably set it into action. It also sounds like he's avoided a lot of the Ford family influences since that time, so it's possible he's not doing too badly for 20.
I do wonder why he never once attended a debate or gave an interview during his candidacy for school board *or* council, though.
