Awesome! What are the various Patreon levels going to be?

I was going to leave it basic for now (ebook not finished) but I was thinking at a certain level you get a free review?

Is that reasonable?

Neat-o. Any chance of a RSS feed?

Very pretty. I like the retro cursive, and I like how clean and uncluttered it is. Go you!

But when do we get James David Nicoll, the flamethrower?

The 'Dreamwidth' link at the bottom of the front page should probably point to http://james-davis-nicoll.dreamwidth.org/ and not http://james-davis-nicoll.dreamwidth.org/7953664.html .

Otherwise, it's a nice look. I look forward to subscribing.

Does this mean you are leaving LJ?

I doubt it, but it does protect against a "In Soviet Russia, Livejournal leaves you!" possibility.

Absolutely not.

When I saw the picture at top, I was puzzled for a minute at how you'd changed. It's a great picture and I love it, but people who don't know you and don't immediately recognize the picture are likely to think it's supposed to be you. Just saying.

When RSS is up and running there, could you mention it on LJ?

I like the design. Retro without overdoing it, simple but shows what it's about, and clear navigation. Kudos to HTML5 Up.

Thanks for the Patreon link.

I would suggest you have multiple Patreon levels, just to increase income, but to be honest I'm not sure what the reward levels would be.

And yes, free reviews sound good, but I may continue sponsoring directly.

The website will dearly need some sort of index/lookup system by title/author/series/category, beyond the simple menus you have today; but I take it thats in the works.

Cool! I do like that 50's diner font.

Are you going to do that cross-posting thing so reviews also show up here, or are the reviews migrating to the name site entirely?

It is in the works, yes, along with a magical thing that will allow you to contribute toward specific reviews, and track the progress of a review's sponsorship (20%, 75%, etc.) I just keep having lifesplosions, and we wanted to get the damn thing *up*.

I was thinking of posting there, linking here. I mean, I have an audience here and I don't over there (yet) so dropping LJ would be like me softly and quietly vanishing.

I know that some authors's blogs crosspost to both their site and their LJ; I wonder what the mechanism is. It'd be a shame to lose the conversations on the LJ side, especially since I think that would be a big draw for repeat readers. Something to think about, anyway.

I bet it works like the deal with DW/LJ. But I set that up years ago and no longer remember how it works. Anyway the idea is to build, not displace.

Are you backing up your LJ? If LJ sells itself to Google tomorrow and shuts down on Monday, will you still have your posts and comments?

(I know there are scripts that will back up a complete LJ along with comments, because I used one and, as far as I know, it still works. I don't know if there's a straightforward graphical-interface version.)
