Not Dead Yet

44 doesn't feel much different from 43.
And tonight, I finally get to see THE INCREDIBLES, which various events have thus far prevented me from seeing. I've covered all the bases for seeing it today, though: there are two copies of the DVD available and three systems to see it on. Assuming this isn't like the COUPLING DVDs, where a good fraction of one printing had a defective section on the disc, I should have seen it by midnight.
I got taken out to dinner yesterday (because the person taking me out observes Lent and I wanted to try a restaurant whose food is meat heavy). The dinner was great but I won't mention where because of what I assume was an unrelated event I want to mention: as I was leaving the restaurant, I had the weirdest event, a sudden taste of acid in my mouth and a total inability to speak, along with some breathing issues. Drinking water seemed to help but my throat is still sore. I blame aging.

Date: 2005-03-18 05:23 pm (UTC)Sorry about the reflux. That's what I have, and I take Prilosec daily. They thought I might have a treatable ulcer, but abandoned that line.
The movie is terrific. I have to get the DVD of this one myself.
HBD!
Date: 2005-03-18 07:05 pm (UTC)We saw it at the drive-in which afforded us opportunity to talk about it freely during the experience. MrsP opined that one character could, after all, fly. I pointed out he was instead "falling with style" -- only after the words were out of my mouth realizing that the whole sequence of images might very well have been homage to exactly that scene in Toy Story The DVD will encourage me to look for James Bond references, DC echos, Marvel touches, Disney magic ... everything. Very Baroque in a cinematic sort of way. With what you bring to the experience from long experience of the various genres I can't help but think you may get it all as gestalt -- which could be dangerous. Good luck.
