What kind of a world is it where mayors do this sort of thing?

If only it were just the chewing gum. He does seem to have an unhealthy relationship with various contractors in the city and he hasn't seemed to have met a city service he thought shouldn't be contracted out to the private sector. The latest escapade was spending $90k of taxpayers money to lobby city councilors with ads from a non-existent citizens group. The purpose of the ads? To convince councilors to vote for a measure to lease out city owned golf courses. Why were the councilors reluctant in the first place? Because they were not allowed to see the details of the plans they were supposed to be voting in advance of the vote perhaps?

Our mayor is not nearly as interesting as Toronto's but he does have his moments.
