Ah yes, Correia. Favourite part of one of his books is when the characters go on a typical paleo-conservative American rant about having to pay taxes (in the midst of all the "government is useless" running through the text) and so on...

...and that would be the characters who work for a company whose only source of income is government bounties. Paid by money that apparently spontaneously forms out of nothingness.

Now, now. Redistribution of public money is always OK as long as it goes to big corporations rather than the parasitic 47%.

I swear, if someone writes a novel with most of the standard Ringo-Correia-Whoever setting tropes but the protagonist supports progressive taxation and universal health care, believes in climate change, doesn't believe Jack Bauer Interrogations and that unrestricted markets aren't a great idea who is also a massively badass, highly trained operative with Improbable Aiming Skills who gives the bad guys a fair chance to surrender before blowing them away if given no choice (and not all the bad guys are evil enough to justify blowing away, so they bring a fair number of 'em back alive), I really don't care about the rest of the writing quality, I would so buy it just for the novelty.
